Oh Baby!

In case you don’t know by now, Mr. Rockin’ Robbins and I are so excited to announce that there will be a new “Robbins” coming to the nest! ETA= Christmas Day!

And it’s a boy! (oh boy!) With 2 sisters you can imagine I was surprised! 🙂 Here’s the story…

Earlier this year, my mother came to me and my sisters and said “I want you all to know, I am praying for a baby under the tree this year!” None of us have children, so we all giggled. Imagine my surprise when I found out on my birthday (that exact day) that I was pregnant! And the doctor confirmed my actual due date is Christmas day!!! Naturally, I told my mother on mother’s day that her prayers were answered!

My mother and sisters hosted a “baby brunch” for us at the beautiful Royal Park Place hotel in Rochester Michigan. It was a beautiful October day!

My sisters Emily and Katie had the honor of praying over the day, and their new nephew…And shortly after my husband Phil and I announced our son’s name, and the meaning behind it…

“Since I was a young girl I have loved the name Gabriel…but Phil Robbins and I prayed that God would confirm his name to me (names are so powerful as it is the #1 thing spoken over your child!) So as we prayed, I continued to call him my “Christmas Angel” (my exact due date is Christmas day). One day, I opened up the bible, and read about the “Christmas angel” who told Mary of the “Christmas baby” we know & love! The “Christmas angel” was GABRIEL (the name means “messenger of God”!) His first name= Gabriel. The middle name is very special to us…my father’s middle name is “David”…and my grandfather was “David Hale”. Phil’s father’s name is “David” as well. So we will call him Gabriel David!”

Our last name is “Robbins” and people call our home “The Robbins Nest”! So the shower was “Baby Robbins” theme, in robin’s egg blue! The shower took place in the morning, so we had a delicious baby “brunch” at the Royal Park Place Hotel in Michigan (we chose it because the atrium resembled a bird cage, and the robins egg blue chandelier was to die for! My sweet sisters (my best friends) even ordered dresses, and didn’t even know how much they would resemble each other, and the theme!

The centerpieces were bird cages filled with Robbins theme desserts (robins nest cupcakes, speckled robins egg macarons, and little birdie cookies by Sweet Heather Anne in Ann Arbor). We had a “wish tree” where guests could hang their advice for the mom-to-be, and their wishes and blessings for the baby! The favors for guests were sweet robin’s egg soaps with tags that read “Thanks for SHOWERing baby Robbins with love!”…soap, and shower= get it?! Yep, you can take the kindergarten teacher out of the class…but you can’t take the teacher out of me! Every detail of the day was absolutely perfect! Check them out=>
